Today I have a miniature watercolor portrait for you.    This cute little cat image, Smart Kitty reminded me of those lovely school photos that used to hang on the wall of my parents' living room! Only this cat's photo wasn't taken right after recess.  Her hair looks quite coiffed.  Mine was always a little disheveled.  And don't get me started on the photographer's assistant with that "community" fine toothed little black comb...

But I digress.

Back to Smart Kitty...

I used my Misti to stamp Smart Kitty using Antique Linen Distress Ink onto a piece of Fabriano Artistico cold press water color paper.  I watercolored using Daniel Smith watercolors.  The eyes were darkened and accented using a black Copic Multi-liner pen.  I stamped the Be Yourself greeting from  Kind Words, using Versafine ink.

Once dry, I trimmed the panel down and used a larger black card stock mat to frame the watercolored image.  I added a picture "wire" to the back using silver metallic thread.   I prepped background of wall-paper-type print patterned paper, and added a silver brad before adhering to a top fold white card base.  I then hung the portrait on the brad, and used liquid adhesive to secure so the silver wire remained taut.

Need a little more animal inspiration to get you going?
Check out all the projects from the IO Team!
