Watercolor Hummingbirds

It's a fabulous Sunday morning.  I hope you are enjoying a fantastic weekend!  I am.  I'll share some pics from my weekend in a few days.

Today I'm sharing a card made with Watercolor Hummingbird from Technique Junkies.

This stamp is so fun.  It's wispy and fluid, just like watching a real hummingbird feels.

For this project, I wanted to create four of them to create the busy movement I see from the hummingbirds at the feeder.  I started with a square piece of watercolor paper and stamped the humminbird in one of the quadrants and then leaving my stamp in my MISTI, just turned the paper, so that I could stamp three more times in each quadrant.

I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color the humming birds, then decided to paint in a spinning globe as well.  I penciled in a rough outline of continents and painted.  When completely dry I erased my pencil marks.  I added some glitter to the wings, and gold heat embossed the sentiment Life is Beautiful.

Feel free to use this code to save a little cash too!

Enjoy your day!

Ready for some inspiration? Here are a few of the projects I have created for today’s hop:

I used the solid stylized peony stamps for this card.  I stamped them in Innocent Pink and Peach Bellini inks, then added Chameleon colored pencil to create a slight 3D look.  I die cut them and the leaves and added to my card base which was layered with a pieces of the fabulous new black and white patterned papers, each foiled with Jelly Bean Green Fancy Foil.  My sentiment was added with as ombre stamping technique with Innocent Pink and Passionate Pink ink.

I just love the foilable black and white Petite Patterns papers!  They give you so many options.

These adorable little pots of succulents were colored on Kraft cardstock with Prismacolor pencils.

The background is made with the negative of foil from the scripty patterned paper.  I used Elmer's spray adhesive to attach it to my black card base.

This square card is watercolored with Prima Confections watercolor.  My watercolored panel is attached to a Turquoise Sea card base and the black gingham ribbon is simply knotted around the card front.

This is the current June incentive set!  Isn't it lovely?  It's yours free with a $75 purchase!

I stamped the images with Versafine Onyx Black Ink onto 140# cold press watercolor paper and watercolored the roses using Prima Confections watercolors.  I cut a very simple and rough mask from copy paper, then used the mask to cover the roses then spattered the same colors to the background.

That's all from me today, but if you are ready for more awesome creations, just click on the links below for more from Gina and the Cast & Crew:

The Ton's Summer 2017 Release Hop!

Hello, and welcome to The Ton Summer 2017 Release Blog Hop!

The Ton has 24 new stamps for their new Summer 2017 Release which includes up to four free gifts with purchases. For more information on The Ton’s incentive gifts, head over to The Ton's blog.  All new release products are available now!

This card features the new stamp Anenome Bouquet.  I masked off the stems of the bouquet, stamping only the flowers and greenery in Versafine ink onto watercolor paper.  I then masked the lower portion of the bouquet and stamped the vase in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Wow! Seaglass embossing powder.

The image was first watercolored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, then I added a bit more detail with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils.

My colored panel was cut using one of the Double Stitched Rectangle Dies and added to a pink layering panel with I had stamped the Geometric Lattice Cling Background in Soft Garnet ink.
The thank you sentiment strip was heat embossed in white and popped up from the card base with some foam tape.

My next card uses one of the latest in the series of beautiful peonies from The Ton Stamps, Large Peony 5.  I absolutely love peonies, and these new stamps are must haves.  They are gorgeous and so much fun to paint.

I chose to paint with Distress Inks for this card.  I stamped my image with the Distress Ink, softening and blurring the lines with water before adding more color and shading back in.
When dry, I used the larges sized Double Stitched Rectangle Die to trim my panel.

The gorgeous quote was added last with Caviar Hybrid ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

This graduation card is my favorite one I have made this year because it is so different and classy.
This uses the set Sunnies.  And these Tortoise-shell sunglasses are fabulous.

I stamped them on in Warm Cocoa ink on ivory cardstock.  I added just a bit of shading with Copic Markers to the tips of the bows and around the nose bridge.  I also used cool gray Copics to color the lenses leaving a sliver of uncolored area as highlight.

I used  Nuvo Crystal Glaze to coat the entire image, and let it dry for 24 hours.
I then coated just the lenses a second time, and let dry again.

I created the background by masking off a 3/8' border around my ivory card base.  I then used a sponge dauber to ink Warm Hazelnut ink to the left side.  I added the sentiment from Sunnies in Aspen Cocoa ink.

When my Sunglasses were fully dry, I carefully cut then out, and inked the edges with Warm Hazelnut ink, and adhered to my inked and stamped card base.

That's it from me today, but there's a whole amazing hop-full more of new stamp inspiration for you.  Be sure to visit all of the hop participants listed below and comment...

Let Your Light Shine

Good morning!  Happy Tuesday to you all!

Today I am sharing a project from my art journal using one of the new June Technique Junkies stamps, Let Your Light Shine.

I began my project by adding a thin layer of gesso to my pages.  When dry, I used my large Memory Misti to add the stamp to the left hand page.  I first placed the page into my MISTI with the lower edge at the bottom edge of the MISTI, with the remainder of my soft-covered journal sticking out of the Misti.  I carefully noted where the left edge of my page was on the back grid lines and placed a strip of washi tape at that line, so I could easily line it up again.  I inked up my stamp and stamped directly on the gessoed page with Versafine ink.  I left my stamp in the MISTI for later.

This stamped image is my guide.  I used acrylic paints to paint in the background sky and water.  I also added some color to the island ground.  When dry, I placed the journal back into the MISTI and restamped my image a second time.  Because it was placed in the exact same spot in my MISTI, it stamped in the exact same place. Again, I left the stamp in my MISTI.   Now I painted a few more  details in the buildings, and the rocks, in the clouds and lighthouse.  I also added the buttery yellow light beam.  Each layer of paint that I add hides some of my stamped image, so before I paint in the sentiment, I need to stamp once more.

Again, I am able to line up my page in the same spot so that I am stamping in the exact same spot on my page.  This will be my final stamping.  Now I am able to paint in the lettering, and add the waves and the water spray on the rocks.

Thanks for visiting today.  Please drop a comment and let me know you were here, or if you have any questions.

Technique Junkies June Release Hop!!

Welcome to the Technique Junkies June New Release Hop!

It's June 1st, so that means the amazing new stamps are available for sale right now at Technique Junkies!

The TJ team members are sharing new projects created with these fabulouse new products today.

Here are a few from me!

I stamped the Swirl Turtle and inked the legs darker with Distress Inks then coated it with crackle texture glaze.  When fully dry I fussy cut it out.  The tag background was inked with Distress Oxide inks and the A Colorful Life Honeycomb Fade stencil and white acrylic paint spatters.  The Trust Your Journey sentiment was heat embossed in white.

This beautiful background stamp is called Sudsy Stuff.  I inked it up with various Distress inks on smooth hot press watercolor paper then blurred the inks in some areas just a bit with water.  When it was fully dry, I coated the whole panel with spray adhesive and diamond glitter.
Look how shiny it is!  I was so excited that it worked!

I used my sparkly Sudsy Stuff panel along with the new sentiment Advice from a Sea Turtle.

My last project for today features the new stamp Let Your Light Shine.  I stamped this beautiful image on cold press watercolor paper and watercolored with traditional and metallic watercolors.

That's all from me today, but be sure to check out all the posts from the Technique Junkies team to see more inspiration!
