Swimsuit Season

SWIMSUIT SEASON:  Two words that strike fear for many.  Especially me.   My winter body has paled and widened and shifted...

I cleaned and purged my closet a month or two ago.  I tried on almost every single thing in there.  Except...  my swimsuits.  I'll work on that.  Maybe.

But today I have some swimsuits that I love and am happy to show off.

Today I am featuring these two stamps from the So Suzy Stamps January 2016 release:  Bathing Suit Line, and Feeling Beachy, and some of her new spring tools.

To begin my card, I started with a 4 1/2 x 5 1/2" piece of Bristol Smooth Surface paper and two Post-It notes.

Using a large stamp block, I stamped the Bathing Suit Line onto my Bristol, and also onto my Post-It notes, making sure that I had all the swim suit images visible and partially covering the area that has the stickiness on the back.  I fussy-cut the images, including the clothespins, from my Post-It notes and used them as masks to cover the ones that I had stamped on my paper.

I used a 6"wide scrap of paper and cut a curved line through the center.   I saved both pieces.  I used one to mask off an area for a sand dune under my clothesline.

I then taped this repeating wave stencil  down over my card front with blue painters tape and used my Clarity Stencil Brushes to add the wavy background to my card.  I started at the top using Tumbled Glass, and worked my way down with Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon Distress inks.

I removed the stencil and the sand dune mask, and then used the "other" scrap piece to match up the curve of the sand dune to mask off my waves.  I then brushed on some Tea Dye and Brushed Cordoroy Distress inks to create my dune.

Now that my background was finished, I removed all of the masks, revealing the protected white areas of my swimsuits.

I colored in my swimsuits with Copic Markers adding random patterns to the suits, and using a ruler and a Black Copic multiliner, I added the post for the clothesline.

Once my panel was colored and dry, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut my panel down to a 3 1/2 x 4 3/4" panel.  I then tucked my panel into the corner my MISTI stamp the Feeling Beachy sentiment twice:  first in Versafine Onyx Black, then again with Versamark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I cut a 3 3/4 x 5" mat from a scrap of red paper, and assembled my card with a turquoise card base.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out all these Coastal stamps and all of the new amazing stencils at So Suzy Stamps! Many of the stencils are sold out, but be sure to click that Notify Me button to get one as soon as they come back!

In general life news, I have been very absent from blogging and even crafting, for the most part.  My days have been quite full...

And my heart is full.

These little sweeties keep me busy.  They are absolutely wonderful, but Nana gets tired...

We try to get out with the stroller and take a long, long sleepy nap ride everyday.  Maybe when I get brave enough to try them on, my swimsuits will fit better after awhile??  Doubt it...  LOL

Have a wonderful week, everyone!
